Screen rooms offer a number of advantages. They are the perfect addition to the home that can be enjoyed almost year-round without the hassles of bugs and extreme weather. They add livable space to your home so that you can entertain, relax and just enjoy the space. Whether you have already had one built onto your home or you're considering it, there is one more element to the screened-in room that is needed to make it perfect: decor. Here are a few decorating tips that will help make the space the perfect area to entertain, relax and simply enjoy the fresh air in comfort and style:

1. Keep Function in Mind.

Since your screened-in room is essentially an extension of the rest of your home, you want to ensure that your furniture is designed with comfort and relaxation in mind just as the furniture in your home likely is. Remember, your screen room is protected from various weather elements; therefore, you don't have to be too selective in your choosing of furniture. This allows this space to be a relatively functional extension of the rest of your home. You can throw in some splashes of color with throw pillows and/or decorative indoor/outdoor rugs.

2. Add Some Beautiful, Native Plants.

Since the screen room is essentially outside, you want to help make it feel like a transition to the outdoors when you walk into the room from your home. In order to do this, you can fill it with native plants from around the home. You don't have to stick with the native theme, though, as you can always bring in more tropical plants as well, which will help to add some color. However, you may want to try to strike a balance between the two so that you keep things as natural as possible.

3. Consider Dressing Up the Screens.

Unfortunately, screens are not very private, and you probably aren't going to want everyone being in your business all the time. So, it may be a good idea to consider installing blinds that can be lowered or at least hanging pretty curtains that can be drawn at night. These window dressings can also give the space a more natural and comfortable appearance since it is considered to be an extension of your home. And, if you still need some additional color to the space, these curtains are a great way to add a splash of color without overdoing it.
